George Anson Byron became the 7th Lord Byron of Rochdale after the death of his cousin, poet Lord George Gordon Byron. He was chosen to command the H.M.S. Blonde and return the bodies of King Kamehameha II and Queen Kamamalu to Hawaii; both died of measles while visiting London in 1824. Byron published his account of the voyage in 1826.
